Get-Togethers?

Do we want to have regular get-togethers? If so, where would we be able/willing to meet, and what would we want to talk about?

Dang, this tribe doesn't talk much. This is from 2004? Okay, I'm new and I'll respond.

I think it would be cool to get together with others. I've been kinda sewing my whole life, but i suck at it, as living in the shadow of an Uber-fantastic seamstress of a mother makes one frustrated. That woman can make anything... well, she used to. Now, she barely sews... of course she's in her late 70's, so she's excused. I have a machine, and I very nearly have a fully padded (and duct-taped) dressform (mannequin padded by yours truly with batting and duct tape). I just need to fill out... ahem... particular frontal body parts... I ain't no B-cup. Anyway...

I would love to have gatherings where maybe one person who maybe specializes in a particular theme/technique/ability can help others learn... or just do pattern swaps and talk fabric deals. I'm still a novice (at least IMO) at sewing (despite my mothers' numerous attempts at focing my to learn) at the machine. I also tend to loathe patterns and cutting from them.

Any other ideas? Before I start rambling again...

I am new to town, just got here 2 weeks ago, and I can't wait to get together!
I'd love to have a craft night, or even a craft party to go to...
    anyone have any ideas?

Same here... two months for me... and it would be nice to get some crafting done. I've been lax about it... and if you saw my closet which is the sewing/crafts space, you'd understand. "Floor? What floor?"

Maybe we should start planning something here and then maybe others will join in... I have this terrible habit of taking charge of planning things... and I don't think i'm very good at it. Yet others' seem to disagree.

Anyone here know of a good place to hold something? I'd offer my place for a small event, but if anyone's allergic to cats, they'd be S-O-L. Also, I don't have a dining table yet. We do have a community room here in my complex... a couple couchs and such... and it's free for residents and their guests to use, just make sure it's cleaned up afterwards. Maybe that's an option. For those on public transit, it's easy to get to. It might be an idea.

Okay... i'll stop now... Maybe we should start a new subject...
